EAT PALM BEACH | EL SABOR

I tried El Sabor for the first time for lunch last week. I’ve passed it a million times with HomeGoods and Joseph’s Market right next door but never really gave it much thought. I love Latin food, especially paella and arroz con pollo, so this is a welcomed addition to the rotation.

The decor and atmosphere are “okay,” nothing special or terrible. We sat at a booth and I was surprised how commercial their menu looked. As if they were a nation-wide chain. I would have preferred a more homey experience all around. That being said, I was starving and thrilled to have a broad selection of Latin dishes to choose from.

I ordered the Arroz con Pollo because it’s hard for me not to order it anytime it’s an option on a menu. This meal was no joke in terms of portion. A huge mound of yellow riced with shredded chicken and mixed vegetables was topped with Sweet Plantains and accompanied with a large side salad. I felt like I ate for days yet somehow had some left over (no plantains though obviously – those were goners). It was delicious and had nice flavor. The chicken was moist and the rice was the perfect consistency. It will be hard for me to ever order anything else honestly. I love arroz con pollo to much to stray if it’s available and I know it’s yummy.

The Cuban Sandwich was also quite a sight – packed with ham, roasted pork, swiss cheese, pickles, mustard and mayo and served with a side of fries. The meat looked awesome and was stacked to give the sandwich some height, which I always appreciate.

The service was great. Our server was super attentive and easy to get along with. He also offered us a house green salsa which looked to be quite popular. I’ll definitely be back.
