EAT PALM BEACH | OLI’S FASHION CUISINE
We visited Oli’s Fasion Cuisine for Sunday Brunch. Oli’s has a crispness to it that I appreciate with its white linens, clean lines and a modern edge. They serve modern American and Mediterranean fare with an emphasis on both presentation and flavor (see: fashion cuisine). From the outside, you may expect a pretentious experience, however we were pleasantly surprised with warm hospitality and generous portions. Given that it was a beautiful day, we were seated outside along the Clematis walk-way.
Brunch began with an order of bottomless mimosas – the most obvious indication that you have come to the right place. I went with the Southern Benedict, which was a good decision. A twist on your typical Eggs Benedict, the “southern” charm came from the swapping of Canadian bacon with good ol’ American bacon and sausage gravy in lieu of hollandaise, perched on a homemade biscuit versus English muffin. With a side of home fries, this was the perfect start to the day. The avocado on the Blackened Chicken Flatbread was not to be ignored and required tasting. This meal received a thumbs up with its chorizo, pepper jack and cilantro, as did the rest of the plates around the table. The Wild Omelette featured mushrooms, goat cheese and truffle oil and was paired with bacon and home fries and the Tuscan Olive Flatbread boasted a vegetarian flair with oven dried tomatoes, olives, garlic, basil and red onion. The home fries had the initial crunch I crave and the bacon was no different.
Service was great. Reservations were available via OpenTable and the bar turned out to house hidden televisions for those requiring their Sunday dose of NFL.
When asked about their sourcing, we learned that they get a good bit of their produce and ingredients from local sources, which is always nice to hear, though I’m sad to say the bacon did not fall under that category (would have been a nice claim to fame for the area, I think). Turns out even the owners are home-grown with Chef Dustin Parfitt being from Wellington and his partner, Juan Gando, a resident of Palm Beach County.
All in all, it was an enjoyable meal with great options for breakfast lovers and non-lovers alike. Good for groups, romantic enough for couples and perfect for a girl’s morning out.
